CBA’s Program of Professional Courses certifies over 250 women in different parts of Brazil

This initiative is a partnership with Senai and is part of CBA’s activities to support diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

 

São Paulo, February 2022 – Partnering with SENAI, the National Industrial Learning System [Serviço Nacional de Aprendizado Industrial],in 2021  CBA – Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBAV3) trained 253 women to enter the industry. Forty of them were hired by the Company. These professional qualification courses are supported by the Aluminum Units in Sao Paulo, Itapissuma, PE, and Zona da Mata, MG; they are part of CBA’s Diversity and inclusion program, and are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

According to Andressa Lamana, CBA’s Director of DHO, Sustainability, HSE, and Communications, the goal of the initiative is to foster a pathway to gender equality in Brazilian industry. “Participation of women is essential and beneficial for companies and society. We promote Diversity and Inclusion in mining and metallurgy, not only supporting the entry of women, but effectively contributing to identify and overcome barriers. This opportunity is fully in line with our commitment to contribute to the development of an increasingly inclusive culture, both within and outside the company,” added Andressa.

In Alumínio, SP SENAI trained and certified 210 women, 104 as Metallurgical Process Assistants, 30 as Mechanical Maintenance Assistants, 4 as Diesel Mechanics, and 72 as Forklift Operators. At the end of the course CBA hired 35 of these women. In Itapissuma, 28 women were certified as Metallurgical Process Operators focusing on Plastic Transformation, and 5 of them were hired.  In Zona da Mata, 15 women were certified in Automation.
