CBA is launching its Primora line of aluminum frames to capture a larger share of the construction market

São Paulo, February 08, 2022 – CBA – Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBAV3) is launching its Primora line of aluminum frames for windows, doors, and façades, focusing on medium to high-end projects. The goal is to capture a larger share of the construction market, supplying frame systems for builders and developers. These will be offered to the market on demand, depending on the needs of the end customer.  In a partnership with Roto & Fermax, a German manufacturer of door and window components, CBA will supply the Brazilian market with end-to-end solutions for the segment.

The new line is the result of two years of research, led by a multidisciplinary working group that included experts in product development, strategy, processes, and marketing, among others. CBA also invested in the purchase of new technology tools for design, and in additional human capital.

Primora will consist of two different lines, each with its own target customers.  Primora Sistemas will focus on mid-range projects, and will primarily supply metalworking shops, while Primora Building Systems will focus on high-end developments and on-demand architectural projects created to serve the end-user.

According to Fernando Varella, CBA Director of Transformed Products, one of the largest advantages of this line is that CBA has control of the entire production chain, from mining through primary aluminum and transformed goods. “This allows us to ensure product availability and shorter delivery times, offering high-quality products and developing solutions with our own team and proprietary tools.  We also have our own in-house painting, anodization, and finishing unit, as well as six presses and 55 ktpa (kilo-tons per year) extrusion capacity.”

Varella also mentioned that customers can rest assured that they are buying products from an ethical company that is environmentally and socially responsible, backed by certification programs such as the most recent “Climate Change Program” issued by the CDP, the Carbon Disclosure Project. This is among the world’s top sustainability ratings and one of the most important certifications when it comes to climate change.  Furthermore, CBA has signed numerous climate agreements and similar efforts, such as Science Based Targets, a joint initiative of the Global Pact, the São Paulo Environmental Agreement, and the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), which brings together companies from all over the world to develop common standards to assess, measure, and disclose financial risks related to climate change.

“All this reaffirms our efforts to produce aluminum with an increasingly smaller carbon footprint.”  CBA is already producing low-carbon aluminum and aims to diminish its greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 in processes ranging from mining through smelting.

Sustainable buildings

The new Primora line is indicated for budget, mid-range, and high-end residential and commercial buildings. Varella went on to say that “Our products fully comply with the technical standards that govern the industry. We are also members of PSQ, an industry program for Quality Aluminum Frames, managed by AFEAL, the Brazilian Association of Aluminum Frame Manufacturers (Associação Nacional de Fabricantes de Esquadrias de Alumínio) and ABAL, the Brazilian Aluminum Association.”

The CBA director claims that this is exactly what the construction industry is increasingly seeking – suppliers and partners who can contribute to securing a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), a tool that fosters the adoption of sustainable construction practices. This system champions an approach for the whole building, from planning to final construction and maintenance of the venture.
